The Greater Calcasieu Healing Community in Lake Charles, LA has a very active ministry. Not only do they host "The Healing Place" to offer healing prayer to the community at large at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church and Crossroads Church, but they have also taken their ministry out into the world, beyond church walls.
Greater Calcasieu Healing Community has officially "adopted" the McNeese State University ladies volleyball team. Each OSL member chose a player (or coach) to pray for all year. The team's motto for the year is Hebrews 10:23 "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful."

"Our college kids are under fire and need all the help they can get. We are being proactive and covering them with prayer," says Malcolm Self, former OSL Regional Director and current VP of the OSL Board.
It all started when Malcolm invited their coach Ashleigh to their OSL conference, and she loved it. She then asked Malcolm to do an inspirational talk to the team. Then he and his wife, Donna, hosted the team at their home and fell in love with them. They prayed for a couple of them who had pre-season injuries.
So the healing community decided to cover the whole team - 23 individuals - in prayer. The coach provided photos, bios, and prayer needs to the community, and they each chose a team member to pray for.
What a wonderful way to reach out to another generation with the love and compassion of Christ!
